Hello and welcome to my website.
Last year I had a skiing accident and broke my back. This changed everything in my life and has taken some time to get used to. As broken backs go, I was very lucky as I can still walk, but I have had a year limited by pain and tiredness. I can’t run anymore which used to be my passion. I had to have nearly a year off work which has been exceptionally hard as I love working as a doctor.
But despite all of this, I have made the most of my year out of work. I have had more free time than I ever thought I would have again, and I have been able to do things that I enjoy, such as cooking and reading. I have also been able to spend more time with family and friends through some difficult times and some wonderful times.
And this brings me onto my decision to start lifestyle blogging.
As I can no longer exercise to the same intensity as I used to, I have had to change my diet in order to remain healthy, and not put on weight (which was my biggest fear!) There are so many people who now dedicate their lives to healthy eating. Sometimes their ideas can be very extreme, expensive and difficult to maintain. I have tried to strike a balance and eat a diet that is sustainable and enjoyable. I am going to use this website to share some of my ideas, and use my medical knowledge to make sensible decisions about food.
Reading is my other favourite pastime and so I will use this site to tell you about the books I am reading and enjoying.
I am not going to set any rules; anything that I find interesting and makes me happy will be shared on the site.
I hope you enjoying reading this and I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with you.
